Dehydrated Days of Summer
Updated: Jul 31
Summer Skin Survival Tips
We are in that place where it's still the dog days of summer but the impending start of school is on the horizon. With that comes more routine and an opportunity to exhale. We've likely been exposing our skin to the sun more than usual and running around with more unstructured time which can be a blessing with few hidden (or obvious) repercussions. Here’s how you can protect your skin at home and in the treatment room.
Impact of Summer Heat on Skin
The summer sun brings about several skin challenges:
Dehydration: The heat can strip moisture from your skin, leading to dryness and flakiness.
Sun Damage: Prolonged exposure to UV rays can result in sunburn, premature aging, and uneven skin tone.
Heat Rash: Excessive sweating can clog pores, causing congestion.
At-Home Skin Care Tips
To combat the summer effects on your skin, consider the following at-home remedies:
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
Hyaluronic Acid: This power ingredient brings moisture into the skin holding 100x it's weight in water! As a serum always apply to damp skin and seal it in with a moisturizer.
Sun Protection: Always apply sunscreen with at least SPF 50 before heading outdoors, and reapply every two hours if in direct sun. If you wear makeup try a tinted performance SPF when hiking, playing golf, at the pool or enjoying your outdoor activities. On days when you are running errands or driving SPF those hands and maybe add a hat as the day goes on if you can't reapply your sunscreen.
Moisture Mask: Give me the Green Envee Firm Collagen Mask for hydration when my skin is thirsty! Aloe leaf gel, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and rose distillate for a plump, hydrated glow.
Treatment Room Solutions
For those seeking professional help, consider scheduling treatments that focus on hydration and skin health:
Hydrating Facials: These treatments can replenish moisture and revitalize your skin.
AHA Peels: Gentle peels can help remove dead skin cells and promote new cell growth.
Microneedling: This can enhance product absorption and stimulate collagen production for healthier skin.
